This is my first time on this site, but am glad to know sites like this are out there. I have overweight since I was about 10 years old and have strugled with my weight ever since (so 47 years) and been on many diets including trying diet pills. . I go to Weight Watchers and had lost 75 pounds but have started gaining it back even though I still attend the meetings and try hard to stay on track. I have also done one of the Weight Wise Modules in the Weight Wise program in Edmonton. Was hoping to get into the next one and meet with a councellor but it has been delayed because of the HINI. I am not good at exercise and I work long hours.
Like most or all of you being overweight is not a good thing, and jnot ust for apperance, it is not healthy.
What ever you do, don't give up, it will happen. I may be something someone says or something you see, but some little thing may be just what you need to help you along.
Here is something that might help. If you are wanting to eat use HALT (am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired). You may be surprised at the answer you give yourself.
I know how hard it is to stay motivated

I am too trying to lose some weight. Last year I found out that I had type II diabetes. Dr told me that it I lost weight and exercised that I could control the diabetes. I have had a gym membership for several years, but the last couple I haven't been going - I need to get motivated. Anyone that would like to help me get going, please help.

I'm here if anyone needs a "Diet Buddy". I lost over 50lbs in 3 months, 5 years ago. I did it by myself but I have lost my focus. Since then I have gained it all back PLUS some! I am a "Foodie"and love to plan menus, read & create recipes and enjoy restaurants, every chance that I get. I would love to get my figure/confidence back again.

Hello, we all have a hill to climb with weight loss. It is easier when you have friends and maybe we can all work at this together. I would love some motivation as I have lost that along the way.

Hi There,
I have read your story and are very familiar with your story. I had a heart attack just about three years ago. It was very serious and they thought that I was not going to make it. I also have other medical issue as well to overcome. I too have been on medication that has caused me to gain weight. I would like to lose about 40 lbs as well. I am unable to work at this time, so, having something to occupy my day would be great. My husband could also stand to lose a few pounds as well. I would love to help you reach your goals through proper nutirtion and exercise. I live in Edmonton. Dawnhigh, please drop me a line when you get a moment.

I am so glad I am not alone. I met my husband almost 5 years ago. Was a whopping 180lbs when we met. Going to the gym 5 days a week. Worked in the nursing feild full time. Had our daughter three years ago and it all went down hill from there. Gained 35lbs throughout my whole pregnancy. Then was diagnosed with Postpartum depression. Was put on medication and I just keep gaining. I have been referred to a weight management program here in Edmonton. It took 10 months before I even got a call back from this Weight Wise Program. I thought they lost my information. Long story short. I too need a partner or two to help me get motivated in starting with a weight loss excercise Partner. I have to date gained 100 lbs from the time I met my husband. I need my old self back. Anyone out the looking for a partner?

I am also looking for someone to buddy up with for a weight loss plan. I have to lose 80lb. My health has taken a tole because of this obesity. Although I have recently lost 60 in the past two years, I still have a very long way to go. I know the weight is coming off very slowly, but at least it is coming off. Just need some encouragement and support to continue this journey, perhaps some goal setting, challenges can be inc entives for me. Thanks for being there.... one step at a time, eventually I will conqueur this battle... knowing that I am not alone helps

Hi ! I am very new ....never even joined a message board before! I also have Type II diabetes and need to loose at least 40 lbs.!! I have been struggling with this for 2 years now. I have joined weight loss clubs, had the support of my physician and still never seem motivated enough to keep going after loosing a few pounds. I also need to take time to plan and find the tools to motivate and support my accomplishments. I am currently trying to make time for a 20 - 30 minute walk each day, as I was told that is very important in keeping sugars stable. So this week has been a good week! The last few weeks have been overly stressful and I truly believe that makes a BIG change in the maintance of blood sugar levels....so I am hoping the walking will average it out. Nice to meet you all! Thanks for listening!

Hi to everyone..I'm new to this site, and I myself have been on the same weightloss journey..I started my journey in Jan. to date I am down 23 pounds...It has been quite easy for me so far, my husband jumped on board with my this summer he is down 30 pnds..All we have done is cut our portions down, eating more fruit and veggies, fish, and chicken..He stopped all pop, dropped 10 right away, cut coffee right down to only 1 a day..myself I'm up every morning at 6 am take my 3 dogs for a 25 min walk, walk my kids to school which is a 20 min to and from ..and I do that twice in morning and after school...I also try to walk the dogs in the evenings as well...I still feel I need to do more exercise during the days...I'm a stay at home mom and I'm trying to find some good at home exercise that I wont get bored with...Is there anyone out there who is interested in helping me....

Hello mellemay, I have three children, the youngest of which has now started school. As a stay home mom (I do the books from home), I really have no excuse for being overweight and have vowed that this is my year to regain my own health. Over the 16 years I've been home I have wasted a lot of money on diet pills and fad diets and they just don't work. Here's my plan: every week I am going to change one thing to make myself healthier. Since school has started I have enlisted one friend as a walking buddy 1 mourning a week and another friend for a yoga class. I have to admit it's a slow start but this next week I will have more time and plan to get on my treadmill twice a day for 15 mins at a time. Just this week I have started eating hemp hearts again and I do find I have more will power, and stay fuller longer. I have a handful in the mourning, and a teaspoon full with my mid mourning piece of fruit and mid afternoon with yogurt. I am somehow for the first time without starving making it through the evening without munching. Hemp hearts are pure protein and are suppose to increase energy and I do think they are helping me and they are just plain good for you. The other thing you might want to talk to your doctor about is PGX. It's a fiber pill that when taken with water half an hour before you eat will lower the G.I. rating of everything you put in your mouth. It also helps regulate your blood sugar. I did speak to my doctor about it and he said it was a very good product and to take it with CLA. I was doing it and feeling great and eating less, I just hate taking pills so I've stopped but it might be a good thing for you with your diabetes. So far in three weeks I have lost 4lbs. and am happy knowing that if I continue with what I'm doing and start excercising more and more, I will gradually lose weight. I'm not sure if this stuff will help but it's something more to know about. Good luck and keep at it!

Hello everyone,
Reading your comments I realize that I can relate to many of you. I too need help with motivation!
Here's my hump to get over, I have type II diabetes and I need to lose 60lbs. I have 4 teens at home and just that is stressing enough. I have trouble finding time for me and need tools and support to accomplish my goal!
As for any liquid diet - they are so not recommended.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Great advice, Gabbygirl.
I asked my doctor about this lemonade diet and he said it is extremely dangerous. He recently hospitalized a patient due to this "cleanse". I don't know about you all, but I can't afford to be hospitalized!
The diet robs your body of calories, fat, essential nutrients, protein...the list goes on...forcing your body to burn its own muscle tissue. This is a starvation diet. Any weight you lose on the diet is your own muscle and water weight, which we all know is a recipe for weight gain as soon as you start eating again.
As for the "cleanse", our bodies have a liver designed for that purpose anyway. If you want to want to rid your body of toxins then stay away from smoking, and trust your liver to do its job.
Sorry to rant, but I really hope nobody is seriously considering risking their health to lose, then regain, a few pounds.
